Cinema rock quartet LOMA LYNDA called it quits in August 2006, after 3 years of performing their critically acclaimed live show. They first started as a trio in 2003, under the direction of songwriter Sarah Ellquist, with Chris Mammone on drums and Jason Bognacki on guitar. By late 2003, the group introduced film to accompany Sarah's original music, at which point they enlisted accomplished classical musician Dan (de Blanke)White on bass.
The group was most notably the first band to be nominated as a "feature selection" of the Sundance Film Festival in 2004, where they performed their music accompanied by their stock footage epic “Episode II.”
Sundance was followed by performances at the CMJ Music Marathon and the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in 2004, then the band decided in 2005 to record their first EP (self titled).
Taking longer than expected, the recording wrapped by Christmas of 2005, and was set for release in 2006, at which point the group decided to add Keith Boyarsky ,of the bay area band "Fan Fiction" to their roster, on bass, allowing White the opportunity to take full advantage as lead guitarist.
After a few months of performances, and steady songwriting, Ellquist and de Blanke decided to disband the group in July of 2006, in order to move on to a more ambitious musical project, one they called "ROBOTANISTS” (aka PHILISTINE!) - Boyarsky followed.
Lifelong friends, Mammone and Bognacki continue working together developing video-only projects under the production name "Loma Lynda."
LOMA LYNDA's self titled album of music (Produced by Greg Butler), is available via OVERHEAD RECORDS, on iTunes, and everywhere else on the web for the first time ever in January 2009!
